UniMed Direct is a medical cost containment company focusing primarily on the property and casualty insurance market, which includes workers' compensation, auto casualty and liability.

We opened our doors in 2001, specializing in physician advisor (peer review) services and developing state-of-the art technology for utilization review (preauthorization and retrospective review). Clients who valued UniMed's strong commitment to cost containment soon requested more services, and we added bill review to ensure real integration and specialized enhanced reviews.

And now, with more companies looking for self-service solutions, we offer our web-based proprietary software, Review Stat™, which allows clients to integrate their medical management activities.

Key Operating Principles

We have always provided Evidence-based Defensible Decisions (UniMeviDence^SM) because we believe it is imperative to provide objective, unbiased physician advisor services. Our company was formed on this principle, and it is our core strength.

UniMed's Web-based Paperless Proprietary Software is critical to serving our clients. We create a virtual claim file with all claimant information available for reviews. Our staff, physician advisors and clients have secure access to the file, allowing for exceptional control and timeliness.

UniMed contracts with Physicians Nationally for peer review services. Our Panel includes the common workers' comp specialties who are board certified, and their credentials comply with jurisdictional requirements. All of our physicians go through a training program to ensure they consistently embrace evidence-based decisions. Our program is URAC accredited, as an Independent Review Organization with the highest standards.

Timely Services are not only a matter of compliance, but a key to helping ensure proper medical care. We ensure compliance with jurisdictional regulations, and our technology facilitates compliance on letters, EOBs, and reporting.
