URAC Accreditation

UniMed Direct is URAC accredited for Independent Review.

URAC is the Utilization Review Accreditation Committee, a non-profit independent organization that sets national standards for several areas of the health care management industry. The organization's main purpose is to promote quality care within the health care system.

Independent Review is defined by URAC as “A process, independent of all affected parties, to determine if a health care service is medically necessary and medically appropriate, experimental/investigational, or to address administrative/legal issues. Independent review typically (but not always) occurs after all appeal mechanisms available within the health benefits plan have been exhausted. Independent review can be voluntary or mandated by law.”
